MEMORY RECORDS

BECH GALLERY, 2016

Santiago, Chile

In my view, Dominique Schwarzhaupt's work is articulated from personal memory: her recollections , her family, and her anecdotes translated into analog photographs kept in family albums. Memories of her youth and childhood, even photographs from before her birth, are part of a puzzle that ultimately assembles a family history with routines and traditions of which we are indirectly a part; united by a collective memory , we see ourselves reflected in her drawings. Her images are similar to our own memories, creating an intimate and unique relationship with the work.
